CBS has given freshman drama Limitless a full season order, EW has learned.
A follow-up to the Bradley Cooper-starring 2011 film, the series follows a man named Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who discovers the brain-boosting power of NZT and is coerced by the FBI into using his extraordinary cognitive abilities to solve complex cases for them alongside Special Agent Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter).
Limitless debuted in September to 9.86 million viewers and a 1.9 in the 18-49 demographic. According to CBS, Limitless has won its time slot in viewers every week since the show’s premiere, with its latest outing drawing 7.90 million and a 1.4 in the demo.
“We’re excited how Limitless continues to evolve creatively each week and stand out with its unique style of storytelling,” president of CBS Entertainment Glenn Geller said in a statement. “It’s off to a strong start in a highly competitive environment.”
The series becomes the fourth new show to be picked up for a full season. ABC ordered a full back nine for Dr. Ken, while Quantico got six additional episodes, with the potential for more. Over on NBC,Blindspot got the full order.
CBS has also ordered six additional scripts for fellow freshman series Code Black, a signal that the network has faith in the medical drama.
Limitless airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
